Chiropractic Care at Lumara
Chiropractic care at Lumara starts with how you move, not only with where it hurts. An adjustment is a controlled force applied to a specific joint, at a specific angle and speed. The intent is to change how that joint moves and how the muscles around it respond to load.
That mechanical change is the start of an appointment, not the whole of it. A joint that has been moving poorly is usually surrounded by tissue that has adapted to the restriction, and sits inside a movement pattern that has worked around it. Adjusting the segment and leaving the pattern untouched addresses one part of the picture.
So each appointment pairs the adjustment with soft tissue work and with loading – mobility work, corrective positions, and strength where it applies. Dr. Connor Borowski spent eight years in collegiate strength and conditioning, four of them at Division I, before treating patients as a chiropractor. That background shapes the method: a joint is assessed inside the movement it belongs to, and the work continues between visits rather than stopping at the table.
Lumara is a solo, cash-pay practice, out-of-network by choice. You see Dr. Borowski for the full length of the appointment you book, and what a session covers is decided by the assessment rather than by a benefits schedule.
01History
The first part of the hour is conversation. What hurts, where, how long it has been going on, what you were doing when it started, and what makes it better or worse. Then the context: what your week actually contains — training, work posture, sleep, old injuries, previous imaging, previous care. A recurring problem usually has a history behind it, and that history narrows down what is worth testing.
02Movement Assessment
Next you are assessed moving. Range of motion at the joints in question and at the joints above and below them, unloaded and under load. Orthopedic and neurological testing where the history points that way. The purpose is to identify which structures reproduce your symptoms and which segments are not contributing what they should.
03Adjustment and Soft Tissue Work
Treatment happens in the same visit. Adjustments are applied to the segments identified during the assessment. Soft tissue work – hands-on, plus instrument-assisted work or cupping where indicated – is applied to the tissue around them.
04Rehabilitation Prescription
The last part of the hour is loading. You are given specific work to do between visits: mobility drills, corrective positions, or strength work matched to what was found and to the equipment you actually have access to.
05What You Leave With
An explanation of what was found and the reasoning connecting it to your symptoms. Your exercises, demonstrated and practiced in the room rather than handed over as a sheet. And an outline of what the following appointments would cover and roughly how often they would fall.
A lifetime of better health.
What's included alongside the adjustment
Soft Tissue Work
Hands-on techniques targeting muscle and fascia to prepare tissue for movement and loading.
IASTM
Instrument-assisted techniques using contoured tools to work more precisely through soft tissue.
Cupping
Suction-based treatment that may be used with movement when appropriate for the individual session.
Assessment-Led Care
Every appointment is tailored to that day’s assessment, with techniques selected according to your needs.
The booking system lists one category, Chiropractic, and appointments by length. Everything described here is delivered inside a booked appointment rather than purchased as a separate product. What gets used in any given session is decided by the assessment that day.
Soft tissue work: Hands-on treatment applied to muscle and fascia: sustained pressure, cross-fiber work, and pressure held at a point while you move the limb through its range. The intent is to alter how that tissue tolerates being lengthened and loaded, so the loading work that follows has somewhere to go.
Cupping: Cups are applied to the skin and suction is created underneath them, lifting the tissue rather than compressing it. Cups may be held in place or moved across the area, and are often combined with active movement. The circular marks that follow are a normal consequence of the suction and commonly fade over several days. Cupping therapy in Phoenix is frequently sold as a standalone booking; here it is one component of a treatment appointment, chosen when the assessment calls for it.
IASTM : IASTM stands for instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. Contoured stainless steel instruments are drawn across the tissue, which lets the clinician feel textural changes through the tool and apply shear force more precisely than with hands alone.

Headaches and Migraines
Including the pattern that starts at the base of the skull and wraps forward.
Sciatica and Nerve Pain
Pain, pins and needles or numbness that travels from the back or hip down the leg.
Disc Injuries
Pain that is worse first thing, worse with bending or coughing, and often referred away from the spine.
Shoulder Pain and Rotator Cuff Problems
Reaching overhead, lying on that side at night, or losing power in a press.
Elbow Pain, and Wrist and Hand Pain
Gripping, typing, lifting, or the ache that follows a season of racquet sport.
Hip Pain
Pinching at the front when you squat or sit deep, or aching at the side when you walk.
Knee Pain and Ankle and Foot Pain

Sports Injuries
Acute strains and the recurring ones that come back every time you return to full training.
Postural Dysfunction and Mobility Restrictions
Positions you cannot get into, and positions you cannot get out of.

Problems measured in months and years rather than weeks, which is what the 45-minute appointment exists for.
FAQ
Common Questions
What do chiropractors do?
A chiropractor assesses and treats joints, muscles and nerves to help you move and feel better. The best-known tool is the adjustment: a controlled force applied to a specific joint to improve how it moves. At Lumara, the adjustment is paired with soft tissue work and loading – mobility work, corrective positions and strength – so the improvement carries on between visits.
Does chiropractic work?
Yes, for many common complaints. Clinical guidelines include spinal manipulation as a recommended non-drug option for low back pain, and research supports it for neck pain and several types of headache. Results are strongest when adjustments are combined with exercise, which is how every appointment here is built. Your assessment will show how well your problem is likely to respond.
Is chiropractic safe, and what are the side effects?
Chiropractic care has a strong safety record. Most people feel looser and more comfortable after treatment. Some notice mild soreness or tiredness, similar to how you feel after a good workout, and it typically settles within a day or two. Every visit starts with a history and examination, so treatment is matched to you, and you choose which techniques are used.
When is chiropractic not the right option?
Your first visit includes a full history and examination to confirm chiropractic care is the right fit. Symptoms such as pain after a significant injury, unexplained fever or weight loss, progressive weakness or numbness, changes in bladder or bowel control, or a sudden severe headache are best seen by a medical provider first. If that applies to you, Dr. Borowski will point you to the right care, and welcome you back when you are ready.
Do you only treat the spine?
Lumara treats the whole body. Shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet are all cared for here. Each joint is assessed inside the movement it belongs to, so a knee complaint may include work at the hip or ankle. The approach is the same throughout: adjustment where it helps, soft tissue work, then loading.
What is the popping sound during an adjustment?
It is simply gas releasing inside the joint. Joints are surrounded by fluid containing dissolved gases, and when the joint surfaces separate quickly, a small gas cavity forms and makes the sound. It is the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. Many people find it satisfying, and an adjustment works just as well when it is quiet.
Can I be treated without a neck adjustment?
Absolutely. Your care is built around your comfort and your preferences. Neck pain and headaches respond well to soft tissue work, gentle mobilization, upper back work and exercise. Let Dr. Borowski know at the start of your visit and the session will be planned around it.
How many visits will I need?
Your plan is built around you. Recent complaints often improve within a few visits, and longer-standing problems are given the time they need. You will leave the New Patient Examination with a clear plan and a rehabilitation prescription, and progress is rechecked at every visit so your care keeps pace with your results.
